Samsung has just announced its top-tier lineup for 2024. We are, of course, talking about the Galaxy S24, which, unsurprisingly, will arrive in the three usual variants: S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. Let's get to know these new models a little better.
Artificial Intelligence at the Core of the Galaxy Experience
Samsung anticipated, and delivered. Artificial Intelligence was one of the main focuses of the presentation, with the brand calling its proprietary technology in this area Galaxy AI. Thanks to it, owners of any model in the S24 range can perform voice and text translations from calls and written messages (the Portuguese language for Portugal will be available by the end of 2024), transcribe and summarize calls and voice recordings, as well as internet pages. The icing on the cake is the possibility of selecting an object present on the screen by circling it, and then performing a Google search based on that selection. All of this happens quickly and efficiently.
Versions for all tastes… and wallets
Although the design has changed little to nothing when compared to the previous generation, the same cannot be said for the internal components. However, this year's highlight is the inclusion of a Qualcomm processor, more precisely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, only in the Ultra model, which certainly won't please the most fanatic users… The S24 and S24+ use an Exynos 2400 chip, which still offers remarkable performance.
The entry-level version, the S24, comes with 8 GB of RAM, against the 12 GB of its superior siblings; nothing that the common user will notice, certainly. Also more modest in the new more accessible Galaxy is the internal storage, which starts at 128 GB, and can go up to 256 GB; the S24+ and Ultra can be configured with 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. Batteries between 4000 and 5000 mAh, 120 Hz AMOLED screens between 6.2” and 6.8”, and 12 MP front cameras complete the package.
It is inevitable to highlight the titanium build, the included S Pen, and the 200 MP resolution of the S24 Ultra's main rear camera, which, assisted by secondary sensors up to 50 MP, are capable of up to 5x optical zoom; the S24 and S24+ are limited to 50 MP on the primary sensor, and a maximum of 3x optical zoom.
Pre-sales for the entire S24 range are already underway, and Samsung promises to deliver the first units starting from January 31st. Prices start at €939.90 for the S24, €1199.90 for the S24+, and €1499.90 for the S24 Ultra.
